SCHOOL SAFETY

• Implement high-quality Weapon Detection Systems at all 211 MCPS schools. • Work with the Superintendent to better enforce the ID policy, especially for schools with open lunch, and ensure that there is no cost for replacing IDs. • Work with the MCPS Chief of Security to enhance security guard trainings by ensuring security guards aren’t playing favorites, are strictly enforcing safety rules to every student, and know how to react properly in cases of emergency. • Ensure all doors are locked from the outside at every school and security guards are stationed at main entrances.

• Increase NARCAN distribution to all secondary schools and increase awareness about what and where NARCAN kits are. • Implement NARCAN training into the 10th grade Health curriculum. • Install vape detectors in all secondary school bathrooms.
